ABOUT ME

A person holds a Bob Dylan album cover in front of their face, blending their appearance with the black-and-white illustration on the cover.Hello, I’m Diego Quadros, and I was born in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre in 1981. Throughout my life, I have explored various forms of creative expression, always seeking new ways to tell stories.

My journey with words began early. I learned to read at the age of 4, and by 10, I was already writing my first story—curiously, about paleontologists discovering living dinosaurs in a cave. (It was only later that I found out Michael Crichton had recently released Jurassic Park. Maybe it’s true that there are no completely original ideas.)

Adolescence brought with it new forms of expression. I began writing song lyrics and eventually formed a rock band with some friends, where I—quite arduously—played the guitar. Although the band didn’t last, it was a valuable experience that broadened my understanding of the power of collective creation.

Over time, I discovered photography as another way to tell stories. I started documenting everyday scenes in Porto Alegre and its surroundings, with a preference for black-and-white images. There’s something about the absence of color that seems to capture the essence of a moment in a rawer and more honest way.

In recent years, I have primarily dedicated myself to writing. I have produced about 50 independent e-books, which have accumulated over 60,000 downloads on Amazon. It’s gratifying to see that there are people interested in what we have to say.

Currently, my focus is on speculative fiction and pulp literature. These genres offer fertile ground for exploring ideas and creating narratives that, even if fantastical, can reflect aspects of our reality.

Besides writing, I maintain my interest in various forms of art. Literature, music, photography, and cinema are areas I continue to explore, both as a creator and as an appreciator.

In the end, I’m just someone trying to express ideas and emotions through different means. Without seeking grand labels—just continuing to create, learn, and, hopefully, connect with others through my work.
